Our third and last trip today. Michele masters the self portrait with the iPhone…

Rockin’ sculpture

The was part of the Experience Music Project. It’s a museum in the Seattle Center near the Needle. There are several hundred guitars on this sculpture and its 3 stories high. They had a great exhibit of music from the Northwest with a lot of memoribila from Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, TAD, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Heart, Queensryche and a whole lot more. The highlights for me included Chris Cornell’s handwritten lyrics to Burden in My Hand, and the mixing board that recorded Nirvana’s Bleach and Soundgarden’s Screaming Life albums. Sadly, they did not allow pictures in that exhibit.

M & KT

Michele and Katie from the observation deck of the Space Needle overlooking downtown Seattle. Surprisingly, it was a bit overcast.  ;)

Street musicians

These folks were set up outside the original Starbucks. The gentleman on the left has a metal upright bass - probably aluminum. I’ve never seen one of these before. They were a fun bluegrass group.

Fish Throwers!

Pike Place Fish Market - the guy on the far left just completed a pass to the guy behind the counter. We got some scallops from here and they were awesome! Lots of entertainment and a Pike Place Market Institution.

Starbucks Queen - Trip #2

Michele completing the Mecca to the orginal Starbucks. Our second Starbucks visit of the day. Amazing to think that a place with such seemingly humble beginnings has turned into the phenom that it has.

Starbucks Trip #1

On the way to the dog park with Wrigley

Wrigley!

KT picked us up at the train station before heading back to her place to see Seattle’s favorite chocolate lab. He was very excited to see us!

Last Train to Seattle

After saying goodbye to our wonderful Portland hosts Heather & Brian, we spent the morning hanging out downtown. Michele took in a Pilates session and I got a massage. After a bit of lunch at Pizza Schmizza and a Starbucks stop, we boarded the 2:50 train to Seattle.

Multnomah Falls

Michele, Heather, & I went to see Multnomah Falls just North of Portland. Pretty amazing place and a heckuva 1.8 mile hike to the top. We also checked out Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River.  Even got to see a few fish come through the counting window. We crossed over at Bridge of the Gods and droveback to Portland via Washington State.photo.jpg
