Devil's Lake - Friday, July 5

The plan:
  • Up early, to get in some great climbing on the quartzite at Devil's Lake
  • Hop in the car, and drive to Blue Mounds State Park in Luverne, MN. Blue Mounds is in the southwestern corner of the state. Be sure to check out the interesting details about Blue Mounds...
  • Set up campsite, and spend a relaxing evening at the campground
What really happened...
  • An excellent morning of climbing. Be sure to check out the pictures. Luckily the un-forcasted rain didn't come down heavy until we were hiking out after the climb.
  • The lake is 4 ft above normal, and the access road to the climb we wanted to do was underwater. Luckily we found an alternate path to get to the climb. Can you guess why it's called 'Pork Chop Buttress'?!
  • An uneventful drive to Blue Mounds. Michele spent part of the drive (luckily it was while Dean was driving) working on the laptop to set up this website!
